Starting School, One Small Step at a Time

School Readiness at Kids+

Starting school is a big milestone — for children and families alike. It can bring up a mix of excitement, nerves, and a lot of unknowns. At Kids+, our School Readiness program is here to help your child feel comfortable, confident, and prepared for this important next step, at a pace that works for your family.

What is the School Readiness Program?

The Kids+ School Readiness program is a short, intensive NDIS-funded program that runs over four days for two hours per day. It brings together evidence-based therapy in a fun and supportive group environment, giving children the opportunity to practise the kinds of skills and routines they'll encounter in a school setting — before the first day even arrives. All are welcome to apply, and you don't need to be a current Kids+ participant to register.

What Do We Cover?

Our experienced allied health team will start by getting to know you and your child, then work together on a range of areas tailored to individual needs. This may include building school-based routines like unpacking a bag or putting on a hat, practising listening and following instructions, developing confidence in social situations such as asking for help or making a new friend at lunchtime, and working on school-based activities like writing their name or using scissors.

Who is it for?

The program is open to children preparing to start school who are current Kids+ participants. It is billed at the NDIS group therapy rate, making it an accessible option for families.

Give Your Child a Gentle Head Start

School readiness isn't about perfection — it's about giving children the familiarity and confidence to walk through that gate and feel like they belong. We'd love to support your family through that journey.
