Hanen It Takes Two to Talk® at Kids+

Communication begins long before words. Every back-and-forth exchange, every shared look, every moment of play; these are the building blocks of language, and parents are at the heart of it all. The Hanen It Takes Two to Talk® program is designed to help parents of young children become the most important communication partner their child could have.

What is the Hanen Program?

It Takes Two to Talk® is an internationally recognised, evidence-based program for parents of children aged birth to five who have language delays or communication difficulties. Rather than placing the child in therapy sessions alone, the Hanen program puts parents front and centre, giving them the knowledge, strategies, and confidence to support their child's communication development throughout the natural routines and activities of everyday life.

What Does the Program Involve?

The program runs across eight sessions, combining group learning with individual 1:1 video-coaching sessions. Through the group component, parents discover how their child communicates right now, what motivates them to connect, and how to turn daily moments such as bath time, mealtimes, and play, into rich opportunities for language learning. The individual sessions allow parents to practise and refine their strategies using personalised home plans, with guidance from a Kids+ speech therapist.

Is It Right for Your Family?

Kids+ offers a free Orientation Session with no obligation to continue, giving families the chance to learn more about the program and decide whether it's the right fit for their child and their goals. It is an NDIS-funded program, making it accessible for eligible families.
