Group Therapy at Kids+

Our group therapy programs, which run during school term and holidays, each have a particular focus or theme . They are goal directed to ensure they meet individual needs and take place in an encouraging, relaxed, learning environment. Benefits of group therapy can include:

  • Learning and practising socials skills

  • Imitating of life scenarios such as playing at a friends house or attending school

  • Creating and developing friendships with peers

  • Making progress on goals one step at a time

Please note that our Intensive Therapy Program also takes place during School Holidays.

This is in addition to the School Holiday Program outlined below and is open to external participants.

Termly Groups

Term 2, 2025

  • When: Wednesdays at 10:15am

    Age: 12 to 18 months 

    This group aims to improve movement and joint attention skills including standing, balancing, jumping and climbing combined with song and dance.

  • When: Tuesdays 10:15am

    Age: 18 months to 2.5 years 

    This is an OT and SP lead group aimed at reading stories and participating in story themed craft activities. This group is aimed at building on language, attention and fine motor skills.

  • When: Thursday 4:15pm

    Age: Primary school aged (prep to grade 2) 

    This is a handwriting focused group aimed to support writing development and general fine motor skill development amongst a group of supportive peers.

  • When: Tuesdays 4:15pm

    Location: Beyond Basketball Stadium, Belmont

    Age: Upper Primary School

    Build strength, control and endurance through Pilates and gym-based exercises. We will use a range of equipment including a Pilates reformer, trapeze, and aerial swing. Children will move through each activity in a circuit style group.

School Holiday Program

Term 2, 2025

Week One

  • When: Monday 7th April - Thursday 10th April (mornings)

    Duration: 45 minutes

    Location: Norlane ARC

    Age: All ages

    Aquatic therapy is an alternative way to work on therapy goals in a water environment. Goals we can work on in Aquatic therapy can include, improving strength, balance and general fitness as well as specific water confidence, swimming or participation goals related to the water. The water provides a fun, relaxed atmosphere with a variety of movement opportunities.

  • When: Tuesday 8th April - Thursday 10th April 2025

    Time: 12pm - 2pm

    Age: School age

    This group will explore planning, planting and having fun and is a wonderful introduction into the world of accessible gardening. Kids will be encouraged to plan out what they will plant, think about the seasons and conditions needed, set up garden beds, plant seedlings and work as a team. All kids will also get a small pot and plant to take home themselves. There will be many opportunities to work on goals such as:

    • Responsibility

    • Routine, sequencing, scheduling

    • Understanding seasons and times of the year

    • Concepts such as warm, cold, wet, dry, smelly, rough, smooth, colours, tastes

    • Gross motor - digging, watering etc.

    • Fine motor - pulling weeds, using gardening tool, planting seedlings.

    • Vocabulary development (naming and labelling plants, developing connection between vocabulary eg. Carrot is a vegetable)

    • Inferencing, making predictions, planning, problem solving.

    • Sensory experiences (visual, tactile, taste, smell etc.)

    • Participation and social connection

Week Two

  • When: Monday 14th April - Thursday 17th April (mornings)

    Duration: 90 minutes

    Location: Kids+

    Age: All ages

    Led by physiotherapists and occupational therapists in a 1:1 session, alongside other children with similar goals, areas of focus may include:

    • Increased endurance and strength

    • Use of a balance bike or trike

    • Learn to ride with two wheels - move off training wheels

    • Road safety information
