The Surf Coast Trek raised over $250,000 this year

Surf Coast Trek participants have raised an astounding $256,286 for Kids Plus Foundation and Give Where You Live Foundation, following the event held earlier this month.This is the second highest fundraising result for the event, which over its four-year history has raised close to $1 million for the two Geelong-based foundations. Funds will be split equally between the two Foundations, with $128,143 going directly to Kids Plus and Give Where You Live.“It was an amazing effort to reach $250,000. We are reminded all the time of the community’s generosity. The Surf Coast Trek is another great example of this. It is really important to us at Kids Plus that we never take people’s fundraising efforts and generosity for granted. Community support makes a big difference to our work and we are most appreciative,” Shaun Cannon, CEO Kids Plus Foundation, says.Over 900 trekkers signed up for the Surf Coast Trek on Saturday, 6 April, making it the most people to undertake the event since its inception in 2016. Trekkers made their way through Ironbark forests, across stunning exposed cliff tops, across long sandy beaches all with sweeping ocean views as they walked the 40km from Aireys Inlet to Torquay.The Surf Coast Trek serves as the largest fundraising event each year for the two foundations and makes an incredible difference to the work they can do for the community."Proceeds of the Surf Coast Trek this year will be allocated to the fit out of specialist equipment at the our new Centre opening in January 2020.
