Introducing Powered Mobility to Young Children: Frameworks and Practical Strategies for Therapists 1 Day Workshop

This one-day workshop focuses on developing critical thinking skills around introducing powered mobility to young children with mobility restrictions. It describes evidence-based principals related to on-time mobility and other frameworks to enhance developmental outcomes and participation for infants and children. Assessments related to powered mobility skills will be presented and practiced, as well as a structured approach to progression of these driving skills. The workshop will draw on coaching principals and family-centred practice to discuss barriers and facilitators of introducing powered mobility in this age group, taking in a holistic view of individual family context. There will be case studies practical demonstrations and attendees will have opportunities to apply learned knowledge and problem solving.
