Surf Coast Trek 2023

Kids+ and The Give Where You Live Foundation are delighted to report that Surf Coast Trek 2023 has been an enormous success, raising $255,318 to be split between both organisations.

The Surf Coast Trek is a fundraising challenge, offering the unique opportunity to walk 40km or 26km along the spectacular Victorian Surf Coast, taking in spectacular scenery in a supported, community-centric environment.

This year saw in excess of 800 people take off from Airey’s Inlet at 7am with a Welcome To Country ceremony, through the Iron Bark Basin where local musicians kept the energy pumping, past beaches and cliff paths into Torquay where music, activities and food made for an incredible celebration of community.

Sharon Gibbons, Organiser and Kids+ Marketing Manager said, “We are proud to work alongside our Give Where You Live Foundation colleagues to bring the Surf Coast Trek to life each year, 2023 being one of our biggest, with easily our best finish line event. This year we had a group of Kids+ participants, some of whom are wheelchair and frame runner users, take part, completing 2km from Torquay SLSC and a 100m Dash along Elephant Walk. As proud advocates for inclusion, seeing our participants cross the finish line to cheers and medals was a powerful moment that we will remember for a long time. If you were at the finish line last Saturday at Elephant Walk, you were left in no doubt as to what this event is all about; community, inclusion, and pride in our beautiful Surf Coast. Thank you so much to each and every person who donated, trekked, and supported us along the way..”
